Trinity’s Own Christmas Card

Trinity has been given a beautiful painting of our church by one of our members, its artist, Bill Travis. Christmas cards are being made with a picture of that painting on the front and a Christmas verse printed on the inside. The cards will also come with no printing. These will be available in Trinity Hall or the church office, at $20 for a package of 20 cards with envelopes. All the profits generated by the sale of the cards will be used toward our church’s mission trip next year. You can see the painting in the entry to Trinity Hall and thank Bill Travis for his generous gift to us all.

MISSION OPPORTUNITIES AT TRINITY THROUGH
THE WITNESS & OUTREACH COMMITTEE

Our committee is charged to proclaim and live the love of God in Jesus Christ through seeking to practice deeds of compassion and work for justice for all people. Toward those ends we have engaged in these projects and ask our members to support any efforts to which they feel called.

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY:  Baldwin County Presbyterians will be building a house in Baldwin County in Spring 2009. We will be calling for volunteers for all aspects of building and support.

CHRISTMAS GIVING:  We offer alternative Christmas giving through Heifer, Church World Service, Habitat, etc. and provide cards to be sent to those in whose name the gifts are given.  We also participate in Ecumenical Ministries’ Christmas Sharing program, giving our members opportunities to buy gifts for needy children and the elderly in this area.

CHURCH MISSION TRIP:  We initiate a summer mission trip for youth and/or adults.  This year eleven youth and adults went to Merida in July with South Alabama Presbytery to work on a church building and conduct Bible School for the children.  Plans will begin soon for a trip next year.

FUND RAISING FOR MISSION TRIP:  We will be selling beautiful Christmas cards with a photograph of a painting of Trinity Presbyterian Church lit up at Christmas time.  Watch for this sale in September.

ACT II:  This is the community action arm of Ecumenical Ministries Incorporated, and Trinity is an ally church for the local group that meets at Good Samaritan Church on Twin Beech Road.  Anyone is welcome to join this group.

SISTER CHURCH IN MAYAB PRESBYTERY, YUCATAN:  We will plan activities for forming a relationship with our sisters and brothers in Mexico.

LIVING WATERS FOR THE WORLD:  A presbytery project that sends two groups to the Yucatan every year to install water pumps in remote villages. We can partner with presbytery to send people or organize our own trip.  There is a Clean Water University in Mississippi where people are trained to install the water pumps.  We have pledged to send $7500 next year to fund one complete installation.

FAMILY PROMISE:  We are part of an inter-faith network in Baldwin County that provides a home for homeless families for one week on a rotation basis (usually every 12 weeks). We ask for volunteers to provide meals, spend the night, and help in other ways to support these families.

HOSPITALITY FOR GRAND HOTEL WORKERS:  We are exploring ways to show Christian hospitality to the foreign workers who are currently working for the hotel.

LOCAL MISSIONS:  We want to be alert to the needs of our community. Currently we plan to outfit four children for school and gather good, used school uniforms to share.
